Texture ID...ENTIRE Line - Honest Review

I literally just want to dive right into this review and I will try my absolute hardest to not be long-winded (lol). I had the honor to try the entire Texture ID product line by Sally Beauty. I won them through a giveaway my homie/hair product-plug was hosting. The entire Texture ID line is made with four essential ingredients ( honey, aloe vera, protein, and nutrient rich oils) that are supposed to lock in moisture as well as provide intense definition.

Listed below are each of the products from the Texture ID line as well as my initial thoughts. I will also let you know if I recommend the product or not and why I do (or don't recommend lol).

Let's get into it....

The shampoo is very light almost too light for my hair, but it lathers well. I love the scent; it's not too heavy but it is also very light almost like a dryer sheet cotton-like scent. The product claims to not strip your hair of natural oils, but GIRL...... My hair was beyond stripped to the point that I couldn't do anything but immediately follow up with the conditioner! Even though the strippage was intense, my hair did feel stronger after the shampoo rinse.

Curly Clarifying Shampoo & Cream Conditioner
Recommend or Nah: I would definitely recommend this shampoo....BUT only if you use a lot of product on your hair during the week. This is a clarifying shampoo so expect nothing but CLEAN  after use! You will definitely need to follow up with a strong deep conditioner and maybe even an oil rinse after right after usage.

First five ingredientsWATER ,SODIUM C14-16 OLEFIN SULFONATE ,COCAMIDE MIPA ,GLYCOL DISTEARATE ,COCAMIDOPROPYL BETAINE.

This conditioner saved the day. I was ready to quit washday until I picked this product up. The scent matched the shampoo, except it was a bit lighter (in smell). I was worried when I initially applied the conditioner to my hair because my hair literally sucked it up! My hair started to feel rough so I really   worked the product in. To my surprise, my curls began to pop and my hair was SO much easier to de-tangle. After rinsing, my hair was extremely shrunken, but soft and hydrated at the same time.

Recommend or Nah: Yesssss I highly recommend this product. It was weird at first how fast my hair sucked the product up, but afterwards my hair was extremely soft and smelled good. Also the slip is out of this world, but you really have to work it in. On the bottle, it says this product can be used as a leave-in conditioner, so I would definitely use it as a standalone product; it was the star of the line for me!

First five ingredientsWATER ,BEHENTRIMONIUM METHOSULFATE ,CETEARYL ALCOHOL ,STEARAMIDOPROPYL DIMETHYLAMINE ,PHENOXYETHANOL

Related imageThe texture of this product confused me. It had a jelly like consistency and it was extremely thick. Once on my hair, the product didn't feel heavy and my curls did pop a bit.The smell isn't the best. It has an wood- earthy like scent to it. But the smell does not stay after you rinse. The slip was mediocre, however it did bring life back into my hair after the shampoo/conditioner rinse. I definitely had higher hopes for this deep conditioner.

Recommend or Nah: Personally, I would not buy this DC or recommend it only because the smell and the lack of slip. Slip means everything for my head and if you are the same, this product may not be it for you. However if slip or scent isn't a big deal for you this product may be worth a try. Plus, it is very affordable.

I LOVE how hydrating this product is! I was not expecting for my hair to love this product, but it really penetrated it. The scent is light, and honestly it didn't really have a smell to me. I love the thick yet spray-able consistency it has and I love how watery it becomes once it touches the hair. It Left my hair soft and easy to de-tangle. My curls popped almost immediately upon application.

Recommend or Nah:  If you love light and semi- watery leave -in conditioners with TONS of slip and curl action, then I highly recommend this product for you. Second favorite out of the bunch.

The styling cream had an odd consistency as well; almost exactly like the Deep Conditioning Masque. The difference is the creme was more creamy with a thicker texture. The scent was very light, almost like a light hand lotion. There was speculation about using this product as a one -product wash and go option. Honestly, I would never use just a cream moisturizer for a wash and go; even if I did, this product would not be first on my list. There was minimum curl poppage (the bottle says this is for medium hold)  just using this product alone, however my hair felt and looked shiny and moisturized.

Recommend or Nah: I would recommend the product as a option for twist-out, or braid-out, but not for a wash and go. Just by the texture of the product, I  feel like it wouldn't mix well with most gels.

This was my first time using a styling foam and I loved it! The foam itself was very moisturizing, it actually felt like it was softening my hair. The scent was light and I thought that was necessary being that it was a foam product. I would actually recommend using the cream along with the foam for enhanced curls.

Recommend or Nah: I would recommend. I loved how light weight and moisturizing this foam was. And it did NOT smell like alcohol like most styling foams do.

Final Thoughts?

Overall, I am pleased with the Sally Beauty Texture ID collection. Each product did what it was intended to do and I had few minor complaints. Two of the products that I really fell for were the Triple Moisturizing Conditioner and the Intense Moisturizing Leave-in Conditioner. Both of those products superseded my expectations and quickly became my favorites out of the bunch.

The other products from the line were hit and miss, but I do feel like they may benefit other natural girls with looser textures. One thing I did realize after styling, my hair felt very dry. I ended up having to apply water and product on the first day after taking out my braid out. The products are all water based, but I am learning my hair may need more than just water based product to function and style correctly!  All and all, I am proud of Sally Beauty for this collection.

You CAN Overcome Heat Damage... Here's how

The title seems misleading, but it's true; you CAN overcome heat damage! But it will not happen overnight. Contrary to belief, there is no overnight hair product or oil that will magically fix your damaged hair. Before I dive into anything, let me give you a rundown of my heat damage experience. Go back to October 2017 for a second. It was a beautiful fall day in Atlanta. For whatever reason, I got the sudden urge to straighten my natural hair.A wig was not enough for me anymore. I just took my extra long twists out and I wanted to try something I haven't done in a while...... This was my first mistake. Later that day I began to prep for my straightening. I pulled out some old and I mean OLD heat protectant spray and spritzed it all over my hair. I can't remember the brand, however I do remember is it was in a green bottle, with an orange spray top. As I gathered my tools, I realized I had two really old flat irons tucked away in my beauty closet. I was excited about

Mielle Organics vs Kinky Curly (Curl Enhancers) REVIEW

Haven't blogged in a minute, have you missed me? (haha) Anyways, I am back with another review! Well it's a semi review.....This time I put my two favorite brands against each other. Off rip, my favorite product for SUPER curl definition is the Kinky Curly Curl Custard by Kinky Curly. My sister put me on this product earlier this year and it has been the ONLY product so far that gives me maximum definition. I have been itching to try other curl enhancing brands since I fell in love with the Kinky Curly Custard, so I finally tried something new! Before I get into this (new to me) product, I want to explain my hair to you. If I can be honest, I don't know my exact hair type. From what my hair has shown me, she behaves in a very "4C" manner.  My roots stay kinky, to the point that if there is no water/moisturizer on it, FORGET trying to define anything. The body and ends of my hair are another story. I have loose-wavy curls in the front, tight ASS coils on th
