You CAN Overcome Heat Damage... Here's how

The title seems misleading, but it's true; you CAN overcome heat damage! But it will not happen overnight. Contrary to belief, there is no overnight hair product or oil that will magically fix your damaged hair. Before I dive into anything, let me give you a rundown of my heat damage experience. Go back to October 2017 for a second. It was a beautiful fall day in Atlanta. For whatever reason, I got the sudden urge to straighten my natural hair.A wig was not enough for me anymore. I just took my extra long twists out and I wanted to try something I haven't done in a while...... This was my first mistake. Later that day I began to prep for my straightening. I pulled out some old and I mean OLD heat protectant spray and spritzed it all over my hair. I can't remember the brand, however I do remember is it was in a green bottle, with an orange spray top. As I gathered my tools, I realized I had two really old flat irons tucked away in my beauty closet. I was excited about ...

Texture ID...ENTIRE Line - Honest Review

I literally just want to dive right into this review and I will try my absolute hardest to not be long-winded (lol). I had the honor to try the entire Texture ID product line by Sally Beauty. I won them through a giveaway my homie/hair product-plug was hosting. The entire Texture ID line is made with four essential ingredients ( honey, aloe vera, protein, and nutrient rich oils) that are supposed to lock in moisture as well as provide intense definition. Listed below are each of the products from the Texture ID line as well as my initial thoughts. I will also let you know if I recommend the product or not and why I do (or don't recommend lol). Let's get into it.... Texture ID: Curl Clarifying Shampoo  - Rating: 6/10 The shampoo is very light almost too light for my hair, but it lathers well. I love the scent; it's not too heavy but it is also very light almost like a dryer sheet cotton-like scent. The product claims to not strip your hair of natural oils, b...

Mielle Organics vs Kinky Curly (Curl Enhancers) REVIEW

Haven't blogged in a minute, have you missed me? (haha) Anyways, I am back with another review! Well it's a semi review.....This time I put my two favorite brands against each other. Off rip, my favorite product for SUPER curl definition is the Kinky Curly Curl Custard by Kinky Curly. My sister put me on this product earlier this year and it has been the ONLY product so far that gives me maximum definition. I have been itching to try other curl enhancing brands since I fell in love with the Kinky Curly Custard, so I finally tried something new! Before I get into this (new to me) product, I want to explain my hair to you. If I can be honest, I don't know my exact hair type. From what my hair has shown me, she behaves in a very "4C" manner.  My roots stay kinky, to the point that if there is no water/moisturizer on it, FORGET trying to define anything. The body and ends of my hair are another story. I have loose-wavy curls in the front, tight ASS coils on th...

Arhpahair Products HONEST Review!

I had the opportunity to review Arhpahair (Pronounced "Afra") All Natural Hair Products so I decided to show you all my wash day and twist-out methods!  The Owner was generous enough to send her entire line of hair products and they include the following: Strengthening & Moisturizing Shampoo All Natural Avocado and Honey Deep Conditioner (For Dry Hair) All Natural Scalp Cleanser Rich Conditioning Hair Cream African Hair Growth Pomade Wash Day Products My wash day line up included the Strengthening & Moisturizing Shampoo, the All Natural Scalp Cleanser, and the Avocado and Honey Deep Conditioner (in that order).  Strengthening & Moisturizing Shampoo Strengthening Shampoo Pros: Did not strip my hair dry like normal shampoo. Upon initial application, the shampoo went on my hair almost like conditioner; I was literally finger de-tangling my hair with the shampoo! It was crazy. A little goes a long way with this shampoo and I...

You gotta dig

I am indirectly--directly starting my 2018 in September. I think it is more than fair to say the last eight months have been a bust for me. I have missed so many deadlines and goals--I can't keep up. Something in me knew I would have a late start this year, but I didn't know this late. But It's fine guys--I'm not throwing a pity party. Honestly, the only thing I know how to do is keep going. I just needed to humble myself and my life is doing that now. Either way I am grateful. All these lessons I am learning shapes me; makes become more of a boss. On a lighter note. I have some reviews coming out SOON on a few BLACK OWNED natural hair care products! I'm stupid excited because I get to put my social media marketing skills to the test.  This natural world can open a lot of doors if you remain AUTHENTICALLY you. Restarting my natural hair journey for me has been a helluva ride. I found myself finding myself through this entire process and it's really amazing...

Just Trying to Understand

I wrote my last blog the day I found out my cousin passed away. I can't lie about this. Literally two weeks later (July 25th) My grandfather passed away in his sleep. My mind instantly went to my last blog post where I mentioned the dead birds. My mind can't help but to relate them to my loved ones that are gone. Grief stricken and undoubtedly confused, I am still trying to wrap my head around this. Why did the Universe warn me? Why do I feel like a walking omen? Why do I feel like everyone thinks I am crazy when I even mention the dead birds? What do I do next and how am I supposed to feel? These questions roll around in me and it's hard to let them out because I know there are no answers. Regardless, I lost two family members in the same month, TWO weeks apart from each other. This wasn't coincidental. I dunno..my mind is just blown. Am I that spiritually intune with the Universe to receive messages or omens from angels? Or am I buggin'?? My heart is hea...

Dead Birds = Death?

Two days ago I saw two dead birds. It was around 7am and I was coming home from work. Two days later I found out a close family member died. When I passed the first bird I instantly felt sad because it was a hawk. Hawks to me represent strength and independence. To see it lying on the middle of i285 really caught me off guard. The second bird was a little song bird. It was laying on the ground right off my exit. As I passed this bird I felt fear. Fear that something was coming, but I didn't know what. Fast forward to today--12:11AM. I get a ominous text message from my sister that said "Call Me". I immediately felt sick to my stomach. I knew something was wrong and as I sit here and type this out; I am realizing that I was being warned by the universe this whole time. The dead birds were a sign. My cousin's death hasn't resonated with me but I am all too familiar with this role. It never feels like they are gone until you are sitting in the room with them and ...

Social Media Manage-NOT..

Coming back into the social media world I am noticing how watered-down everyone is. It's ANNOYING AS HELL. But before I dive into this rant-post, understand my background and try be as open-minded as possible. I've had Instagram for years (duh) but this year I decided to change my content. I went from promoting my girlfriend's photography to documenting and blogging my natural hair journey. Everything began April 2018 when I had a little over 530 followers. Fast forward to July 2018 and my follower count is 853. My following grew because I KEEPS IT 110%. *Disclaimer: this rant is not just about IG followers; I will get to the point in a minute :)  Going into this, my intentions were to track the growth/health of my SEVERELY heat-damaged hair, build and CONNECT with naturals all over the world (not just in Atlanta), and share my crazy-ass life experiences visually on Instagram and on my blog.  My intentions are STILL the same, however my views of social media dr...

Wash and Go Routine feat. Kinky Curly Custard +ALOE VERA!

NEVER in a million years did I think I would complete a SUCCESSFUL wash and go on MY 4C textured hair. I've only done like two (wash and gos) since I have been natural because they ALWAYS come out janky and hot frizzy mess.....Buuuuuut not this time. My sister introduced me to Kinky Curly Custard and needless to say, this product got my ENTIRE head together!! The last time I did a wash and go I used the "toxic" Eco Styler Gel  and that was a hot MESS. The gel did not mix well with the Shea Moisture moisturizer and coconut oil that I used. Also, I used waaayyy too much product and not enough water...Girl, it was just a mess. This time around, I wanted to incorporate natural (aka grown out of the Earth) products. I used my go-to and FAITHFUL Aloe Vera gel as a leave in and Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Peep how I completed my wash and go below: Start your wash and go with fresh (clean) hair. * This is the most important step; it will determine how well your was...

The Universe..Is WATCHING

I love when the Universe sends me messages. It's like a secret confirmation that I am finally doing something right with my life. Since I began this blogging venture and RE-started my natural hair journey, I have received positive abundance from the universe that I am heading in the right direction. I also am so much more aware of my thoughts and actions; its crazy Now when I say "sends me messages" I am referring to Angel Numbers.  I started digging more into Angel Numbers when I began seeing different sequences of numbers at the weirdest times. The correlation between my thoughts and the times would ALWAYS show on a clock. I was seeing 11:11 , 12:12 , 12:34 , 2:22 , 5:55 ALL the time. It was beginning to freak me out so I begin looking up the meaning of each number. Here's when the scary-dopeness occurred: When I saw sequenced numbers, I was doing or thinking of how to improve my brand (Nynalovee) or how I can improve my overall life. No other time in my life h...

Mielle Organics Babassu Oil & Mint Deep Conditioner REVIEW...OMG

Wash day this week was very SUCCESSFUL! I used many products (this was a first for me) but the Star of this week was Mielle Organics Babassu Oil & Mint Deep Conditioner . This product was designed to restore your [heat] damaged or dry ends by bringing protein and moisture to each strand. I began wash-day by washing and conditioning my hair with Aussie Mega Moist Shampoo & Conditioner . I normally section my hair in six to eight sections so that the products can really penetrate my scalp. While washing/conditioning, I primarily focus on just cleansing my scalp as I allow the shampoo and conditioner to flow freely into the body of my hair. I have low-porosity hair, so I have to take extra time to make sure the water and product really saturates my hair. Knowing your hair's porosity can eliminate a lot of time and save a shit ton of money when using/buying the right hair products. After washing and conditioning my hair, I sectioned my hair and applied a generous...

Branding..The Beginning

Going out on a limb, but I really I enjoy the thrill. I hid in the shadows of comfort too long and its been time to come out. Today was my first real photo shoot with my girlfriend. It was SO official because her Stylist/Creative Director tied everything together. My girlfriend and him are unstoppable together; what they did for me was nothing short of amazing. On another note, I am learning so much about the importance of branding myself. Today I realized that I am a confident person, but I still  need to work on embracing the flaws that I am self conscious about. I can only get better at this and for some reason, I feel like I can take this thing pretty far. I love how proud I made my girlfriend. I feel like I proved to her how bad I want this. Not that I have anything to prove to anyone; it's just rare that I am this open. I spent so long being private so sharing a glimpse into my life is pretty trippy. I still need to figure out the person I want to showcase to the world. In...

Natural Hair/Blogging Life.. the beginning

I want to say this “natural hair life” is new to me, but it’s not. I’ve been natural for eight years, but this year I learned to embrace it. After I turned 21, something inside of me clicked. I realized I was in charge of the way I live my life.. my was hair included.  To this day, I will never understand how a thick, white funky chemical can make my kinky, but thick ass hair manageable. Anyways, I tend to trail-off so please forgive me.  I became natural when I was 21. I didn’t immediately cut my permed ends like the internet encourages us “natural girls” to do because I wasn’t brave enough. I say that in the least offensive way possible, so please forgive me in advance again :) But honestly, my new growth was EXTREMELY short and I didn’t have the confidence to rock the TWA (Teeny Weeny Afro) look. My face is full and I didn’t and still don’t feel like a TWA would flatter my features.  I kept my hair under as many wigs as possible to ignore the new kinks emerging...

The Challenge

It is so hard protecting my energy in this place. After three years, one would think I would be immune to the constant negative energy by now, but I am not. The tension here is so strong; at times I feel like it is hard to breathe. It hasn’t been like this long, but I realized how blind I have been. The corporate world is a death trap, filled with mundane tasks and repetitive meetings. As I trail towards entrepreneurship, I gain pure disgust for this place. Disgust turns into negative energy and that negative energy attempts to alter my inner energy. I REFUSE to allow that to happen. My mantra includes forcing myself to ignore the energy in this place to maintain mine. Staying focused is key to keeping my energy. Every day I teach myself how to vibrate my frequency so that I can  stay under the radar. Everyday I get better, but it’s harder to channel my energy after a long weekend. For the first time, I felt the difference between the energy that I feel here and the energy I feel ...
